New York City is a wildly active startup scene, and we’re particularly bullish on the Big Apple seed environment. For one thing, venture capital funding in NYC is alive and kicking - much more so than in other cities. Total VC spend in NYC reached $2.6 billion in Q1, a 76% spike over the previous quarter, while nationwide total VC spending saw just a 6% rise over the Q1. Secondly, New York’s standing as the epicenter of hot sectors like fintech, digital media and retail continues to drive innovative players who are disrupting traditional models. And finally, New York is the city of hustle--a hub of talent that’s producing the next generation of startup success, many of whom have strong bloodlines to the biggest names in the startup world.
So without further ado, we are thrilled to announce the launch of Primary’s NYC Quarterly Seed Report, which aims to put all NYC tech seed investment activity right at your fingertips—including funding amounts, sectors, investors, company information and noteworthy trends. From our front-row seat within the NYC investment community, our goal is to synthesize the hundreds of deals taking place each quarter (so that you don’t have to!) into a compact report that’s delivered straight to your inbox at the end of every quarter. We hope you find this to be a useful reference in understanding the makeup and movements of the NYC seed landscape.
The first Quarterly Seed Report will be released tomorrow. Be sure to sign up for our mailing list to get a first look!
